A guide to a female-only weight loss camp

Most of us like to take pride in our appearance and health. It is also a fact of life that a healthily proportional ratio between height and weight is a factor in many women’s self-esteem and confidence. Yet however much we might all wish it were otherwise, in some situations our weight may get out of control and cause us to start doubting our overall appearance and fitness levels.

That’s when we may consider taking action and booking into one of the bootcamp facilities that are becoming increasingly popular. The camps are all about putting things right during a relatively short and intensive period of exercise and - with the more reputable organisations - dietary re-alignment too.

There are bootcamps and bootcamps though and you will find that different camps adopt very different approaches. In spite of what the name might suggest, they are not all harsh military-like regimes. Brealy Bootcamps, for example, offer a range of weight loss camps, run by women for women. Fully qualified, experienced, staff help participants, in female-only sessions, to focus on the totality of their lifestyle and that, of course, includes considerations relating to both diet, exercise and balance (such as workshops on dealing with stress, understanding triggers that see you make unhealthy diet choices etc).

There are a number of reasons why that might be advantageous to you if you wish to critically re-adjust aspects of your lifestyle:

  • whether it should be the case or not, in an ideal world, some women simply feel more relaxed and less inhibited in exercise routines where men are not present;
  • by addressing the “three pillars” of exercise, nutrition and behaviour in small, focused groups – rather than the 1:40 ratio some of the more military style bootcamps have – you receive a personalised service that helps you achieve your goals and maintain them.

What happens after you leave the camp?

While you should come away from your bootcamp well-armed with all the tools you need to lose weight and maintain that weight loss, it goes without saying that there will be times when you may feel that you need support and encouragement - such as when your weight loss plateaus or if you have a “bad” day.

Bootcamps that offer post camp support will help you maintain your motivation and momentum and ensure that all of your good work is not lost.

Getting together for a few days or even a week with a group of like-minded women might be an extremely effective way of re-launching yourself towards a healthier lifestyle. Your choice of bootcamp may be crucial element in your success.
